San Diego State University has invited Ideahaus® Founder and Satellite Marketing Author Kevin Popović to present to students on his marketing strategy which helps businesses in using social media for sales, marketing and branding. “I think this is a great way to keep current; for me to see what’s being taught at the University level, and for the University to keep abreast of what’s new in business.”
Professor Heather Honea requested Popović address her students to help broaden their perspectives on the new medium and its application for business. Dr. Honea’s background in psychology and economics frame her different research areas. One research stream addresses consumers’ psychological reactions to direct response marketing activities and interactive consumption experiences; the other examines rational versus non-rational (emotional) determinants of consumption and loyalty.
This month Ideahaus® Founder and Satellite Marketing Author Kevin Popović will speak on social media for sales, marketing, and branding. “Experiential learning in Marketing Department of College of Business at San Diego State University offers students the unique opportunity to gain direct experience through client projects and interaction with industry thoughts leaders on social media, like Kevin Popović ,” says Dr. Honea.
Popović presented to two classes of undergraduate students, as well as Dr. George Belch, Professor of Marketing and Chair of the Marketing Department at San Diego State University where he teaches Strategic Marketing Planning, Integrated Marketing Communications, and Consumer/Customer Behavior. Belch’s work in Integrated Marketing Communications is notable, including academic text in Advertising and Promotions.
Notes from Kevin Popović: “I was really impressed with the students in Dr. Honea’s class because they asked the obvious questions, and they asked how it would apply to their current opportunities (part-time jobs, non-profit work and their own entrepreneurial efforts). The first lecture lasted approximately 1 hour, the second nearly 2 hours due to varying schedules and workloads. I thought I’d record the lectures for the students (who couldn’t take notes as fast as I speak ;-) to reference after they realized they were really learning something new. In the end of each I also challenged them to apply what they have learned – what good is access to this new insight and strategy if they don’t do anything with it, right?”

Great job Kevin! I really enjoyed your presentation and it was very relevant to our class. I definitely had a couple of “Ah-ha” moments.
