Web 2.0 has become the word of choice for pharmaceutical marketers over the last 5-10 years in regard to all new media that have allowed for enhanced interactions with the patient-consumer. However, more and more the phrase “Web 3.0” has begun to emerge with the question of “What is next?” and “What new media outlet should we prepare for?” User control of healthcare will continue to dominate in the future but planning for the media and online outlets consumers will be engaged in is essential for success in a Web 3.0 world.
